Behold – my indoor Herbary. Basil, Parsley, Chives and Thyme. Brought indoors to thrive in the warmth over winter. A convenience – definitely – who wants to trudge to the top of the garden during a snowstorm – not me. And they look pretty good on the window sill too.
A timely reminder that I need to get organised with this. A cheering display when the days get a bit gloomy as well as being useful.
ReplyDeleteI have been sowing seed of replacement plants as I seem to get through a lot of parsley in particular
DeleteMy kitties would be having a heyday with your goodies in the windowsill.
ReplyDeleteI have mine suspended on a shelf from the ceiling.
They are perfect to snip a piece or two for homemade soup as you're looking out that window at the snowstorm!

I think I'm going to have a herbary just like yours - it's certainly better than a cold, wet walk to fetch some parsley.
ReplyDeleteThey do look good ours large pots of herbs have been popped into the greenhouse.
ReplyDeleteI have one threadbare Basil in the kitchen, otherwise ours are all outdoors. Are you having a new septic tank installed, that big black thing looks familiar.
ReplyDeleteIt's down the side of the house and it's our oil tank Cro (we don't have a gas supply in the village)
DeleteI was admiring the oil tank too... :)
ReplyDeleteI wish my kitchen window sill was wide enough for some pots, and the view is even less inspiring than yours! Flighty xx
ReplyDeleteLuckily that particular windowsill is not one we look out of - I saved the best view for when I do the washing up with a nice view over the back garden.
DeleteI love to see herbs growing on a window sill, I have no room on mine as the bonsai trees live there. It's great to be able to reach out and chop them.....xxx
ReplyDeleteYour windowsill gardening looks very good & healthy plants. I usually end up with aphids with herbs indoors.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first year I have actually brought them in - I may try misting them every now and then if the air gets a bit hot and dry for them.
DeleteThey do indeed all look very happy and will make your winter cooking all the tastier. xx
ReplyDeleteLike Flighty, I wish my kitchen windowsill was wider. I can fit a single row of pots there but then can't get to open the window! I keep basil indoors and I have chive and coriander growing on the balcony but I quite enjoy the walk down to the garden to get thyme, parsley, rosemary, etc. The plants seem to do better outside as well (at least the hardier ones!)
ReplyDeleteI still have my main herbs outdoors and was intending to place containers by the back door for ease of picking during the winter but I do quite the look of fresh greenery in the kitchen.
DeleteAll within easy picking Elaine :) I already have some basil on my kitchen windowsill and may add a couple more companions to overwinter.
