Tasty Tomatoes

I am relishing the fact that my outdoor Sungold Tomatoes are still pushing out fruit.  They aren't in a sheltered spot and the foliage is looking pretty tatty now but there are plenty of tomatoes to keep picking which is quite remarkable, due to the fact that I keep forgetting to water them.  Three plants are growing in a trough and two are in the ground.  They have the most delicious taste, very different to ordinary toms, very sweet.  If I had to grow only one type, then this would be the one.

  1. It's great when you find a variety which does well for you, and that you enjoy the taste of. My favourite is Tangella, I've had a great crop from them again this year, and I'll definitely be growing them again next year. My Gardener's Delight have been rather disappointing this year, though they've just perked up a little and rewarded me with some nice sized fruits.

  2. Lucky you! I had to pull up, and dispose of, my tomatoes early in the week as they'd succumbed to blight. Flighty xx

  3. Oh no Flighty, what a shame, they had only just got going as well. At least you dug up your potato crop early, or else they may have got it too.

  7. They look great!! My tomato plants are also slightly sad but still fruiting. Mine is a freebie that popped out of the compost but I may have to give Sungold a try next year. :o)

  8. Goodness, Elaine! You are one busy bloggy lady! Flighty pointed to your slow lane blog and then there's your veggie gardening blog... any others you're hiding somewhere?

  13. Yes, Tangella are an orange variety, Elaine. I grew them from seed and they've done really well, still fruiting now.
