I pushed my gloved hands deep into the potting compost of the container that held my potatoes, scraped back the soil, and behold, these little golden beauties.
Admittedly, there aren't a lot of them, but when I think of them bubbling in the pan, then crushed, with a fillet of smoked haddock perched jauntily on top and a buttery chive sauce, I can forgive them anything.
I've grown my first earlies in containers this year too. They come out so clean. It's always exciting emptying the containers wondering if there's anything in there.
I've never grown potatoes but since they can be gorwn in a container, I might give them a try. I want to grow the blue ones so I can freak out my family. :o) Your potato and haddock dish sounds wonderful!
One of my favourite potatoes! Flighty xx
ReplyDeleteI must say that they are quite tasty, more than likely I will grow them again

ReplyDeleteIt hasn't been a particularly good year for potatoes for me, but however poor the results, they are still far superior to shop-bought ones.
ReplyDeleteI simply love this photo of those scrumptious potatoes against the rich black soil. It actually makes them more appetizing!
